A guest message for your church
One story-driven message on the oldest, simplest picture of faith in Scripture: a child falling asleep in her father’s arms.
It sends people home knowing what “believe” meant to the people who first heard it, and why that changes how we stand on Jesus this week.
I fell through a roof. I walked the line of screws like everyone does, and the joist underneath wasn’t there. That fall started a question I couldn’t put down: what are we actually standing on?
The New Testament’s word for “believe,” pistis, was an everyday word. Soldiers used it of a commander they would follow into battle. It meant putting your full weight on someone. This message gives that picture back to your people.
The tone is warm and encouraging. It closes with a gentle invitation to put your weight on Jesus, and it fits both Pentecostal and traditional services.
Church leaders on the book
“A rare and necessary book … This is not just a theological insight—it is a pastoral one.”Braam BothaSenior Pastor, Berwick Church of Christ
“Timely and hugely relevant … drawn from a careful reading of scripture, but in everyday language. I highly commend this book.”Bishop Dr Paul BarkerAnglican Diocese of Melbourne
I’m not a travelling preacher, and this isn’t how I make a living. If your church would like the message, I’ll come.
No book table unless you’d like one. If your people want copies, just ask.
A free short-video series for small groups that carries the message into the weeks that follow. Coming 2027.
Since I was 16 I’ve served as a worship leader, music director and worship pastor in local churches, at conferences and in stadiums. At Hillsong Church I ran much of the television department and crew, including the largest church gatherings in modern Australian history. I know how a Sunday runs, and I know how to serve one.
These days I’m a farmer and a dad to two young daughters, who taught me more about faith than any lexicon. The Weight of God is my first book.
If yes, email me with your church, a few possible dates, and what your Sunday looks like. If the timing isn’t right, no problem at all.
